Themed company Party and corporate Events in Holland

A themed staff party has one major advantage: as soon as colleagues walk in, the usual work routine disappears. No targets, no meetings, and no coworkers asking if you can “just take a quick look at that email.” Tonight is all about dressing up, great food, music, entertainment, and—above all—having a ton of fun together. And with a good theme, the possibilities are truly endless. Transform the party venue into a steamy après-ski lodge, pull out the lederhosen for an Oktoberfest, go back to the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, or ’00s, step into a glittering disco party, or let your coworkers try their luck at a full-on casino-themed party. Prefer something tropical? Then cocktails, palm trees, and tacky Hawaiian shirts suddenly become perfectly acceptable business attire. It’s the decor that makes a theme party special. Decor, music, food, entertainment, and activities can all be perfectly coordinated. Before you know it, the finance department will be playing blackjack, the sales director will be walking around in a tacky tracksuit, and someone from HR will turn out to be a flawless Macarena dancer—a talent no one knew the company needed.

INSPIRATION

Themed corporate parties throughout the Netherlands

A typical company party is fun. A drink, some tasty snacks, some music—and before you know it, the same group of coworkers you have drinks with every Friday afternoon is together again. That’s great, of course, but it could be more exciting. A themed company party gives everyone something to talk about right from the start. And probably something to be slightly embarrassed about years later, too. The big advantage? Themed parties can be organized anywhere in the Netherlands—from Amsterdam to Maastricht and from Groningen to Zeeland. At an existing party venue, in an event hall, on a country estate, or simply right at your own company. With the right decorations, music, catering, and entertainment, even a company cafeteria—where normally only lunchboxes and fluorescent lights set the mood—can suddenly be transformed into a full-fledged party setting.

Choose a theme

The hardest part is probably choosing a theme. After all, there are quite a few options. During an après-ski theme party, for example, the venue is transformed into an Austrian ski lodge. Wooden decorations, winter-themed entertainment, schnapps, beer, and, of course, music—where even coworkers who normally listen exclusively to podcasts suddenly turn out to know “Anton aus Tirol.” Prefer something with just a little more glitter? Then go for a disco party or a party themed around the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, or ’00s. Dig out those tacky tracksuits, neon colors, and shiny outfits from the closet. Before you know it, the accounting department will be dancing the Macarena, and the commercial director will turn out to remember exactly how the dance moves went from his college days. Or at least, that’s what he thinks.

Choose a theme

A theme doesn't have to be subtle

A casino-themed party gives the evening a completely different vibe. Roulette, blackjack, and poker foster healthy competition, while coworkers discover who’s surprisingly good at bluffing—information that always comes in handy for the next salary negotiation. Of course, a theme doesn’t have to be subtle. In fact, the further you take it, the more fun it often becomes. For example, organize a full-on Dutch-themed evening with sing-alongs, traditional Dutch snacks, and decorations where red, white, blue, and orange are clearly used in abundance. It’s perfect for coworkers who, after just two songs, are already with their arms around someone they previously knew only from Teams.

Develop your theme fully

Or bring Munich to the Netherlands during an Oktoberfest. Long beer tables, lederhosen, dirndls, German music, and large mugs complete the atmosphere. The main challenge, then, is not having to explain to your boss on Monday morning why there are photos of you all singing “Ein Prosit” together on a bench. Would you prefer something a bit warmer? With a tropical-themed party, palm trees, cocktails, flower leis, and Hawaiian shirts suddenly become perfectly acceptable work attire—even when it’s just eight degrees outside and the rain is coming down sideways. Themed parties are also ideal during the winter months. For example, a corporate venue can be transformed into a full-fledged Winter Wonderland, complete with Christmas trees, lights, winter food stands, and fire pits. Combine that with mulled wine, hot chocolate, winter dishes, and entertainment, and the traditional Christmas get-together suddenly gets a major upgrade. No more just half an hour standing next to the Christmas tree with a glass of prosecco—it’s a full-fledged Christmas event.

Turn Your Own Business Into a Party Venue

And if you think Christmas is a little too tame, you can always opt for après-ski. Because nothing says “professional organization” quite like 300 employees all joining in a conga line while someone from HR stands on a table. Moreover, a company party doesn’t always have to take place at an external venue. Your own company location can actually be surprisingly well-suited for a themed party. A warehouse can be transformed into a festival grounds, an industrial hall into an Oktoberfest, and a parking lot into a full-fledged food truck festival. Even the cafeteria can be barely recognizable with enough decorations, lighting, and entertainment. This often creates a special effect. The place where orders were being processed that afternoon becomes the dance floor that evening. The office where budgets are normally discussed turns into a cocktail bar. And next to the printer, where people usually complain about paper jams, there’s suddenly a DJ. That’s a lot more fun, isn’t it? Theme parties are also particularly well-suited for large groups. For a staff party with 50 employees, a single space can be fully decorated, and everyone can participate in the same program together. For 100, 200, 500, or more employees, you can think even bigger. Various food stands, multiple bars, entertainment zones, stages, performers, and activities can all come together to form a complete themed world.

Think big

Think, for example, of a company festival where colleagues can choose between live music, casino games, food trucks, and entertainment. Or a massive Winter Wonderland with various winter-themed areas and activities. The larger the group, the more important the organization, of course. After all, if 500 coworkers all decide they’re thirsty at the same time, having just one friendly bartender with a tap might be a bit too optimistic. The great thing is that a themed party can be organized virtually anywhere in the Netherlands. In major cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven, and The Hague, the selection of event venues is enormous, but there are also plenty of options in places like Groningen, Zwolle, Arnhem, Breda, Tilburg, Maastricht, and smaller towns. That means a staff party can take place close to the office, but of course, you can also choose to make it a day trip. For example, combine the party with dinner, a city activity, an overnight stay, or a team-building program to turn it into a full-day company event. And if you already have a suitable venue of your own? Then the party can simply come to you. Ultimately, a good theme party is all about the big picture. Unfortunately, just hanging up a sign that says “Welcome to Las Vegas” doesn’t turn the cafeteria into a casino. Decorations, lighting, music, catering, and entertainment must all work together to create the right atmosphere. A casino night calls for gaming tables and stylish decor. For an après-ski party, wooden decorations, winter-themed entertainment, and cheesy hits are a must. And if you’re going for a tropical party, don’t suddenly start serving bitterballen under a Christmas tree halfway through the evening—though chances are, no one would really mind.
